Brownout
Brownout
A 9-piece outfit formed fifteen years ago by members of Grammy Award-winning Latin revival orchestra Grupo Fantasma, Brownout has evolved into a musical force all its own. After garnering three Austin Music Awards, the band has continued to produce music that is unflinchingly progressive, while evoking the classic influences of artists such as WAR, Cymande and Funkadelic. They’ve performed at events including Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music Festival, Pickathon, FFFFest, Bear Creek Music Festival, Utopia Festival and Pachanga Fest, while regularly touring the U.S. Brownout’s also served as a highly in-demand backing band for artists including Prince, Daniel Johnston, GZA and Bernie Worrell.

After a surprise national hit in 2014 with their Black Sabbath inspired 'Brownout Present Brown Sabbath' album, the band released Brownout Presents Brown Sabbath Vol. II in 2016 via Ubiquity Records. The recording includes reimagined versions of “Fairies Wear Boots,” “Snowblind” and “Supernaught.” The tracks “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” and “Symptom of the Universe” features vocals by Ghostland Observatory’s Aaron Behrens.

Prior to the Brown Sabbath series, Brownout released three albums - Homenaje (Freestyle Records 2008), Aguilas & Cobras (Six Degrees 2009) and Oozy (Nat Geo 2012).

In 2017, the band released an original EP entitled Over the Covers (Fat Beats 2017), which was widely acclaimed by critics and heralded the next chapter for the band as it continues to evolve and explore new and funky musical realms.

In 2018 the band teamed up yet again with legendary hiphop label Fat Beats to release an album of psychedelic funk interpretations of Public Enemy classics called Fear of A Brown Planet. NPR said of the project "The guys in Brownout have done it again. They have gone to the deep well of uncut funk to produce yet another homage to classic soul that further burnishes their reputation as keepers of the funk flame...Brownout's dedication to Old School is not necessarily about preserving a musical relic but instead it's more about creating a living, breathing brand of funk that can cross generations."

Ever-prolific funk masters, the band is currently working on a new album of original works with producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos) slated for release in fall 2019.
Tribal Gold feat. New Orleans Suspects
Tribal Gold feat. New Orleans Suspects
Start with members of three of the top bands to come out of New Orleans, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, and The Dirty Dozen - then add a saxophonist who was James Brown's horn director for 12 years, and a keyboard player with extraordinary talent, and you have The New Orleans Suspects. With well over a century of touring experience combined, this is a real band with genuine musicianship and more seasoning than any of New Orleans' greatest dishes. They have been making an enormous impact with their live performances across the country, and have established themselves as one of the brightest new lights out of the Crescent City. Funky drumbeats, greasy wailing saxophones, razor-sharp guitar playing, rollicking piano and swampy organ swells, strutting bass lines and tight vocal harmonies make this band stand above the rest. Just as the wind shifts over the Mississippi River, so does the music the band creates - strains of Dr John and the Nevilles, The Meters and Allan Toussaint, brass bands and piano legends, hot nights and sweat-soaked streets, all combine in an original way to create what is now known as The New Orleans Suspects.

Crossing New Boundaries in Music and Preserving Culture
In Uptown New Orleans, where the Mississippi River
bends an elaborate patchwork of cultures, races, and,
music come together like a well made gumbo. New
Orleans Suspects call this area home. Big Chief Juan Pardo
and the Golden Comanche Indian Tribe also hail from
Uptown and are upholding the proud cultural traditions of
Mardi Gras Indian Culture, while bringing funk infused
Caribbean rhythms to the masses.

Suspects Tribal Gold is a collaboration between these two
powerhouses. Merging the intense audio sounds of the
Suspects with the heavy tribal drum based, funk infused
visual parade that Mardi Gras Indians bring.
This presentation is geared towards Arts Centers,
Community Events, and Festivals. The elaborate Mardi
Gras Indian costumes require a bit of room. Coupling this
with crawfish boil or other cultural events allows both the
Suspects and Indians to interact before and after the show
and answer questions regarding New Orleans Culture,
Music and Mardi Gras Indian Heritage.

Niceness
Niceness
Hailing from Telluride, Colorado, Niceness is rooted in the traditional sounds of island reggae; seamlessly integrating elements of soul, funk, latin and hip-hop while staying true to their authentic reggae vibes. Their lyrics embody a conscious message seldom found in this day and age, centrally focused on love, personal responsibility, interdependence and sustainability. With a strong foundation of musicians, Michael Gomberg on drums, David Christeson on the keys, Stosch Dembitsky on bass, Dustin Wilson on guitar, Jonathan Barfield on percussion, Jeff Gutierrez on tenor sax, John White on Alto sax and Jared Wright on trumpet, the musical sense and rhythm is solid allowing for the vocal melodies of Koral Delatierra to sweep you away into the niceness that is abounding all around us. "Our goal as a band is to spread positive vibrations with our music, sharing words of wisdom and gratitude to inspire and empower our fellow brothers and sisters to know thyself and to stand in truth and love."

About

Circus Bacchus is a collective of performers based out of Flagstaff, Arizona started in August 2007 by a group of friends. We believe that circus present a unique medium for the art we want to convey. We are in the business of creating worlds in which the strange, the unusual, and the amazing are paraded right before your very eyes. However, we never want our our art to be merely viewed from the edge of your seat. With every performance, we invite you to not simply become a spectator in our world, but an active participant.

Circus Bacchus is proud to feature members such as Flagstaff's Strongest Man, the only bearded fire eater in the Southwestern United States, as well as Northern Arizona's finest poi spinners, jugglers and dancers.

In our short time as a circus, we have performed for Northern Arizona University, the Coconino Center for the Arts, the Technomania Circus (San Diego, California), the Coconino County Fair, and The Flagstaff Orpheum. We love and embrace what we do, and have a great time doing it. For upcoming shows, keep an eye on the home page; we'd love for you to come and have fun with us.
